Personal Safety Map Lit routes & arrival Watch

Plan safer walking corridors with a local Corridor Safety Index, run an arrival Watch, and prepare an alert draft for someone you trust if you don’t confirm — all on your iPhone.

What it does

From lit corridor to confirmed arrival.

Personal Safety Map turns a night walk into a clear Watch — ranked routes, people you trust, and drafts you control.

  1. 01

    Corridor Watch

Rank walking options with a local Corridor Safety Index based on lighting window, proximity to your saved safe places, and late-night context — then start a timed arrival Watch.

  2. 02

    Tonight’s Brief

Check readiness, lighting window, and a practical checklist before you step out — so the walk starts prepared, not rushed.

  3. 03

    Anchors

Save home, transit, open-late spots, and friends. Nearby Anchors help corridors feel grounded on the map you actually walk.

  4. 04

    Playbooks

Use scenario rituals — road home, night shift exit, meetup closeout — with steps and Watch defaults you can apply in one tap.

  5. 05

    Circle & ledger

Keep trusted contacts and travel modes. Review completed Watches in your journey ledger when you want the history.

  6. 06

    Alert drafts you send

If you don’t confirm arrival, the app prepares a message for someone you trust. Nothing sends until you confirm in Messages or the share sheet.

About

Built for people who walk alone — and want someone watching the clock.

Personal Safety Map is a local-first companion for urban walks. Plan lit corridors, put a Watch on your arrival, and keep Anchors and trusted contacts on your device. Completely free — no subscriptions, no ads, no account.

Map walking directions use Apple MapKit when available; estimated corridors appear when directions are offline. Corridor Safety Index scores are local estimates from time of day, route length, and proximity to your saved Anchors — not live crime data.

Personal Safety Map is a planning and accountability aid, not an emergency service and not affiliated with any police department, city agency, or emergency dispatcher. In an emergency, contact local emergency services (for example, 911 in the United States) immediately. Do not rely on this app as your only safety measure.

Privacy policy

Your Watches stay on your phone.

Effective date: August 25, 2026 · Last updated: August 25, 2026

Information we collect

Personal Safety Map does not require an account, sign-up, or login. We do not operate servers that store your profile, Anchors, contacts, or Watch history. We do not run third-party analytics or advertising trackers inside the app.

The following stays in the app’s private storage on your device:

  • Display name and Watch preferences you set
  • Safe place Anchors and map coordinates you save
  • Trusted contact names, relationships, and phone numbers you enter
  • Active and completed Watch / journey records
  • Playbook progress and brief checklist state
Location

With your permission, the app may use Location When In Use to place a Watch start point on the map and, if you choose, include coordinates in an alert draft you prepare to send. Location is not continuously uploaded to us — we do not host a tracking backend.

Maps & system share

Walking routes may be requested from Apple MapKit / Apple Maps on your device. When you open Messages or the system share sheet to send an alert draft, Apple’s sharing UI handles delivery — we do not auto-send SMS on your behalf.

How we use information

Because we do not collect personal data on our servers, there is nothing for us to profile, sell, or share with advertisers. Features — Watch, Brief, Anchors, Playbooks, and Circle — run using data stored on your device.

Data storage & retention

Content remains in the app’s private Application Support storage (local JSON). There is no cloud sync operated by us. Deleting the app removes associated local data from that device.

Children’s privacy

The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 on our servers. Local notes and contacts you enter remain under your device controls.

Your control

Edit or delete Anchors, contacts, and ledger entries in the app at any time. You can clear demo Anchors or the journey ledger from Settings. Uninstalling the app removes local app data from the device.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy to reflect app improvements or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the effective date above. The core commitment — local storage, no accounts, no sale of personal data — will not change without clear notice.
